Look quite dusty.
If so then you may want to shorten the maintenance interval. Only you know exactly and it can't hurt to clean too often. I had a similar K&N set-up on my previous car, a turbo Talon. No problem cleaning the element except that the car was out of service during the process (remove, clean, air dry, re-oil, install) which as an overnight ordeal. This time around I opted to use a K&N drop-in. I can put the still new OEM filter in the car while I service the element. No rushing and no downtime. A better commuter car alternative IMO.
