Some scanguage II questions
For those who have the scanguage II
1. Do you have a permanent setup, so that it is always connected to your car? 2. Does it draw power from an internal battery or from the car? 3. Is it safe to leave it in the car during the cold winters and hot summers? 4. Do you leave the fuse cover open to keep it connected, or is there a way to keep it closed and still have the wire connected? I saw a few pictures of it, but since the hack, I'm not sure if there are anymore pictures of users with it on. |

1. Semi- Permanent -- I've wrapped it around the steering column. The length of cord conveniently ends at the very top, ie it allows the unit to sit right on top of the steering column.
2. Power from Battery..but it can remember you set up and data from within 1 fill up. 3. Cold...yes, Hot summer...not exactly. When I leave the car, I take the unit and tuck it into the little cubby hole to the right of the driver's knee. I'm sure the unit can stand high temp (as high as the car interior can go)..but Direct sunlight is a no no because of the LCD display. 4. Fuse cover? The obd2 port is under the fuse area..under the whole dash. So no worries about the fuse cover. |

I left mine in the car all summer and I never had a problem with heat
It takes its power from the car ,there are no batteries in the unit. There is no fuse cover it just plugs into the OBD11 connector. |

clarification on question #2, it draws power from the car battery. it does not have an internal battery.
i've kept mine in the car all the time even in summer heat waves of +100F. i haven't permanently damaged it yet, though when it gets really hot, the LCD gets really dark and it's hard to read. you can also put a piece of foil on the back side to reflect sunlight, because the black plastic body sucks in a lot of heat. |

Maybe the mods can sticky it again. I am thinking about a Scanguage II myself, as I read this before the hack and before I became a member. Decisions on where to mount it haven't been made on my part.
