'08 Cruise control not working

First time poster, be gentle please

I have an australian '08 model Yaris, and have just tried to install a Rostra cruise control, unfortunately it does not seem to want to work.

After some research I quickly found that it was not possible to do the easy install on the australian model of Yaris, by just adding the control stalk. I took the chance on the ECM etc being roughly the same on the '07 and '08 models and bought a Rostra 250-1873 kit to fit an '06-'07 Yaris.

The install went smoothly with the wiring and connectors being the exactly the same as supplied, and pictured in the documentation.

Took it for a test drive, light comes on, but acc/decel does not work.

Anybody got an idea whether the 06-07 Rostra CC should work on the '08 model car? Are there any known differences between the ECM's on the 06/07 and 08 cars? Any other advice (constructive) will be appreciated.

TIA

Regards, Graeme

The Rostra kits are harder to diagnose than the OEM cruise control is. I would start with the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) connection, making sure that is is properly crimped on the wire and making a good connection.

Thanks so much for the reply, and indication of what to look at.

Will get in and check that out as soon as I can get to it.

Just for clarification. Can you see any particular reason why the '07 model CC unit will not work in an '08 model car?

No. The 250-1873 kit would actually work on 06-11 AUS market Yaris.

Hi Guys,

I bought the same 250 1873 for my Yaris 2007 3DR hatch and i have the same issue. The led comes up but it doesn't keep the speed for some reason. I even did all; troubleshooting provided by rostra in the guide and all comes okay.

Any advice ?

@OhSevenOhSix Did your started working ?
