Talking Ghetto audio mod.

OK, so I was lucky enough to get my hands on an 07 Yaris Liftback. I got it totally stock and actually paid what the web site said I would pay. That mericle asside, I had NO TUNES. I have a little crappy Jensen head unit ready to go, out of my old car. It is nothing special but hey, it works. Anyway it is my understanding that it uses the same wiring harness as the Echo, but there is no dash adaptor yet. So, I had these Creative Labs computer speaker set. It has a Sub and 2 little cube style sat's. So I placed the sub in the trunk, ran the aucio in, from an extension cable to the front where i plug in my iPod. I stuck the little cube sat speakers in the center console cubbies. THen I plugged in my very old 140 watt inverter into the 12V accessory port, running it carefully under the drivers seat to meat the power brick just behind my seat. That power cord from the brick, the speaker wires and the unput line all travel neatly along the floor under the Yaris floor mats, tucking along the drivers side rear seat.

These speakers retailed for $30 US from Fry's Electronics about 18 months ago. I had them new in box because they where given to me and I never had a use for them. They are not tooooo bad, but are not super great ether. Waaaaay better than nothing at all and for some reason, the shape of the car lends it self well to the acustics of the speakers. A few pics below. And of course, if someone knows of an official single DIN head unit dash kit (not a hack) please let me know.

Comments/questions/flames welcome.

Here you can see the sat's. The wire tucks under the center console a little, only to help keep the wire agains the center console.

Amazingly, they do not fall out. THey are just lightly wedged in there. You can also see the power plug for the inverter there.

All hooked up. Rocking the electronic music. ;p

The little sub is on the left side.
