Help! Lots to explain, look inside!! Car won't shift out of park and more!
Ok so my lady's water pump failed so I replaced it, no biggie. Except I was rushed because it was about 30 and windy as hell out. I hooked the battery up pre-maturely and accidently bumped the alternator ground wire against the alternator and saw sparks.
Now car starts but won't shift out of park without using the shift lock release. Car drives but no working turn signals, no power steering, fan never kicked on and triggered hot coolant light again, got a CEL. Any suggestions? Didn't see any blown fuses. Did I put the car into limp mode or something or possibly worse? |

Sounds like you popped the 60A MAIN fusible link, which is part of the positive battery terminal red plastic chunk.

Remove the positive battery terminal and you will see the two fusible links on it. If the MAIN is popped you will see that the little metal bar is missing.

Ah, very good. I didn't have the EWD in front of me when I posted, but I knew it was going to be one of the two.

hopefully that is the fix of the problem. i don't think its a fried ECU, if it were i doubt the car would have even started.
unfortunately no dealers in the area had it so we will find out Tuesday morning if its all better :). thanks for your quick response and help! |
