Possible rust problem?
Hey guys, had a quick question that I hope can be answered... I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with rust in the rear wheel wells. The area that I'm most interested in is the little holding area towards the front of the car on the inside of the well. It's a pretty flat area and is just painted steel, I was wondering if anyone has ever noticed rust forming around that area or that bolt that is right there.
Thanks in advance!

Not yet. Seen six winters with plenty of salt.
I've not seen any showing any indication of rust there. Granted, the majority or us around here have rust proofed our cars.

Yeah, that's why I was curious... I was thinking about protecting that area with a good coat of undercoat. Is yours bare?

I coated my whole wheel wells (and the entire bottom of the car) with Herculiner. I noticed that there was always a little pile of stones, in the area that you mentioned, every time I pulled my wheels, so I figured that eventually the paint would get stripped.

It is holding up perfectly. It would actually be almost impossible to remove, if you wanted to.

Yeah... Mmmmmm... I think I'll do that before this winter. I live a mile south of Lake Michigan, and it's nicknamed "The Snowbelt"... I plan on keeping the car rinsed off and clean as much as I can, but there's only so much I can do. It makes me cringe when I think of that salty wet snow sitting in that little valley.

What's this "winter?!?"
Oh yeah, I think I remember; that's when temperatures drop below 90 degrees for a couple of days! Cheers! M2

No. Most of my life has been spent in California and I've skied at every area within 50-60 miles of Lake Tahoe and probably 50 percent of the areas from Mammoth Mountain southward...and I've gone down slopes on all types of sleds and saucers....but I've never snowboarded nor ridden on a snowmobile. I was skiing once with a girlfriend at Mt. Batchelor in Oregon and there was a snowmobile place somewhat nearby.....we almost rented some snowmobiles, but she changed her mind.

Okay, thanks! I do the same, I just don't like the design.
