Car-camping in a Yaris Hatchback

Has anyone done this? I've been toying with the idea of buying a van, then thought... Why not just use what I've got? Apparently CC is a thing, but I'm wondering about modifications specific to my older (2008) three-door Yaris.

Such things as whether or not to remove the back seat to install a platform or just curl up ON the back seat (I'm short), whether and how to install a fan or just crack the windows, how to "black out" the windows and curtain it off, etc.

I remove the passenger seat in my 2001 Echo and built a platform so I could sleep on that side of the car. It’s harder to take your seat out because something has to be plugged into the computer. But if you could do it do you have a place to sleep pretty nicely.

Sure is possible to go traveling in a small car. It’s a lot cheaper gas wise. Do some research and see what other people are doing. Good luck and tell us what happenedS!

IMO, turning your 2008 three-door Yaris into a mini-camper is a great idea! It's a budget-friendly way to explore and have some adventures. When it comes to modifications, it really depends on your comfort and needs. Removing the back seat for a platform can provide more space, but curling up on the seat might work if you're short. Installing a fan is a good idea for ventilation, and window blackout and curtains add privacy.By the way, if you ever decide to take your Yaris on a road trip, you might want to consider stopping by the largest amusement park in the us for some added excitement. It could be a fun side trip during your

I dont have any pictures but I took my back seat out and then went to a junk yard and found the spare tire platform and the understructure and flipped it around and used it to make a flat bed area. Looks like toyota did it! Pretty sweet.
