Just got a new exaust installed today, it is from the resonator back, 2 1/4 Stainless tubing all the way back to a 50 Series Flowmaster muffler and dual stainless tips.

Hopefully it will sound better when I get my header in a few days, I like it now because it's not "tingy" sounding like alot I hear where I live

I think I feel a difference but not sure because I just switched to 94 octane gas two days ago and that makes a huge difference.

I am running 2" catback with a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler and a stainless steel 2" tip that barely sticks out from the car.

It sounds alright, but as soon as I get the funds I am swapping that Dynomax out for a Borla.

The Borla's have the deepest tone I have heard on 4 cyl's and they also dont have the annoying high pitched sound at 4k+ RPM's that glasspacks and the "fart cannon" mufflers that you see on most honda civics.

If you want good sounding exhaust without a high pitched whine for around 200 bucks installed, custom with a turbo style muffler is the only way to go.

If you go with one of those polished mufflers with the 4" tip, you might as well drill a few holes in the stock muffler and dump some ball bearings in it...cause thats the sound they make.

Also, alot of those mufflers you buy out of rice magazines dont have the flow capability that more known names like flowmaster and borla and hooker, ect. Most of those mufflers loose in flow rates and back pressure...magazines like Sport Compact Car and others have tested this theory.

In summary, Shiney 4" exhaust bad...2" turbo muffler w/ custom cat back 2" piping and stainless 2" tip, good!

P.S. changing exhaust piping from big and small often results in slower exhaust velocity which can lead to less HP. It is better the not change the over all exhaust size by much, and to not do things like get a header with a 3" outlet, buckle it to 2" exhaust, then throw a 4" muffler on the end.

50 series? That's usually for dual exhaust/street rod applications!

It sounds great, though- I'll definitely give you that.

I wonder how it would have sounded with a 60 series- that's their "sport compact" series.

That fact is EXACTLY why you see nobody offering a catback system for this car.

not sure if it was an actual pic, but i was looking in the most recent Siphon Mag issue, and DC Sports has a cat-back system for the Yaris (they were working on a LB, so i'm assuming it's only for the LB). but i don't see anything on DC Sports site...

I guess a target market of 4-5 different cars is too low to really get enough material, and/or reader base. So, either they fold now, or come up with an issue every 3 months...
