When I think of a dual conversion for a Yaris, this design seems to make some sense as long as the muffler is small and nothing hot is near the brain.
So are you saying to install the MI exhaust you needed to drill a hole?

Yes. One small 3/16" hole to support the twin tip...

It almost didn't need a third point of attachment as all the weight is on the two existing hangers in the stock positions. The third one only holds the height adjustment of the tip. I just used an old piece of wire and twisted it until the tip was the right height.

The box in the back is a evap tank. Which also kills the idea of doing a twin exit like a camaro with the muffler right after the axle since its right in that location on a sedan.

There is a possible existing hole to use...but that would require welding a length of wire to a nut to drop it down into position...but thats jist asking for a future rattle headache if it were to come loose.

I can produce an alternative normal style axle-back for a very good price.

Thanks for the correction, guy. I didn't know what it was, and just guessed it was electronics in a plastic box which would have a melting issue if a heat source was close.

The twin tip still has the normal rubber coupling on it, same as the rest of the mounting points, to cushion any motion. The wire loops from the coupling through the little hole. It feels like there is less than a pound of weight on it and only keeps the tip from sagging down.

I believe you could.
It might not generate a large number of sales, but some would sell for sure. I boxed and weighed a stock axle back, and then went to the UPS site to estimate the maximum shipping cost from Coast to Coast. Shipping is about $35 which seems pretty reasonable for a large bulky item.

Found this pic of a really neato Yaris axle back dual exhaust on a Japanese site that might get around the emissions canister issue...

You cant go off the stock axle-back weight. It weighs almost nothing since its all 18g material. Toyota definetly knew how to produce an effecient exhaust in terms of flow and weight. The entire stock exhaust weighs about 27lbs. My exhaust weighs about 10lbs more...due to 16g construction and extra resonators. The stock muffler is open inside with one baffle and a spring loaded valve. Packed mufflers/resonators weigh more.

In the long run however 16g can take a beating compared to 18g...if you look at it wrong it gets dented haha

Btw ive seen several exhausts like that one too and ive considered it

I'd bet that it sounds really super, unless the left pipe is just a dummy.

I see... I had compared the stock axle back exhaust to the Micro Image MagnaFlow Center Exit setup and it was only about 2 pounds heavier.

Im thinking about producing a low cost axle-back...mandrel-bent aluminized steel with a nice tip...looking around $175-200 range. Sedans first then hatchies next.

There's likely a pretty decent market in that price range or even a little higher...

...as everyone here eventually gets, at the very minimum, an axle back because it's such a simple and satisfying mod to make.

Yeah, just start really small with a minimal commitment to making one unit and see if it will sell.

I was happy to buy Garm's center exit hatchback exhaust because it was unique and very well designed. So if you came up with a sedan dual exhaust that no one else offers, it would likely sell at least a few.

malibu if the center exit poses an issue, I would be interested in a standard exhaust, not dead set on center exit.

What do you think cost would be to fab a single exit on passenger side headerback exhaust?

Hey, you know what would be a really cool exhaust setup that nobody has?...

...a side exit with a dual tip in front of the rear wheel.

Manifold-back i can sell you a tubing kit right now that would need to be final fitted and hangers welded to it, etc. However the manifold flange is an odd very spaces out bolt pattern...i made my flange out of 2-flanges for my exhaust.

It is really wide...

I think it's so that the bolts with springs around them will have enough room to clear the donut gasket and socket.

^^ yes what would price be for this tubing kit. Minor modding does not bother me, I planned on having a custom exhaust made anywho.
