I had the same muffler on a twin cam 1.9 saturn engine, it sounds great but on long hiway trips it was very hard to take. It got to the point I changed it for a magnaflow that had the silencer option that way you could add the silencer if I had a long trip.

Check that you have equal pressure from both sides, my exhaust pipe came in at an angle so more exhaust went out one side, when they straigtened the pipe in and I had even exhaust flow out both tips it got a bit quiter.

You could also throw a high flow cat on there, that will quiet it down a bit too.

hmmmmmm thanks for the advice. i'll definately look into that. Would the high flow cat be more affective than another resonator?

more details on the resonator please.

how long is it? you may add another small resonator right before the muffler, it works well on the evo's to kill the rasp.

The resonator they threw on was some no name on. I think it's only like 14" long. grr.

I will measure it soon.

But yah, so what would be better? maybe i can have room for a high flow cat AND another resonator. I'll try take pics.

IDK how much room there is to fit a high flow cat or another resonator..

i hope you didn't pay more than $200 total for that setup.. keep an eye on it, it's gonna rust like crazy, especially in your salt-rich environment.

and yeah, it looks like they could have used a resonator at least 6" longer.

Nah it won't rust. Stainless is a waste of money. Already have aluminized piping on my truck and my dad's mustang and it's fine.

I'm going to explore my options. Stay tuned!

I've had aluminized piping on my truck for the past 3 years, rust free. My dad's had aluminzed piping on his mustang for over 5 and no rust. It's funny that you think you know what would happen to aluminized piping in Hawaii, seing how you live here and all. Oh wait, you don't.

See you in 6 months.....ok.

Anywho, going to call the guy who did the exhaust today and see what my options are! stay tuned. dun dun dun

Look into magnaflow resonators.

I have an 18" long, 4" diam and it did wonders to quite things down and take away the rasp...

And agree with the others... don't count on dynamat to quite things down.
That stuff works great to make a quiet car even quieter...

But in your case it will just add weight and make a very little difference...

It sounds great. I'm surprised that I like it since I don't like most exhaust notes without the cats. It's a little loud for me, but as long as you don't get crap from the cops there...

A Cat will make it a little quieter and it wont smell. I think you have the room for both a cat and a larger resonator.

Then you're an idiot to think it'll rust, because it won't.

I am going with a 24" resonator in place of the one that is there now (14"). If I can't handle the noise, i can put a cat between the wideband and the secondary o2 sensor. But I am not planning on needing to, i hope.
