Toyota Vitz 2006 automatic - engine revs lot

Hello, I have just bought a 2nd hand 2006 Vitz. Apart from a minor accident I had in less then a week, the car seem ok. However what I can notice is that from 0Km to 20Km/30Km the engine revs a lot. Then after 20Km/30Km, when the gear changes, the engine goes really silent, revs goes down, and I feel as if loosing power for a few seconds until it continues to accalerate again. The other Vitz I have (2000, also automatic) has a more steady acceleration. In other words between the 1st and 2nd gear it does not seem to go so low on revs. I was wondering is this normal? I am not an expert, but could it be that the gear ratios are not good? I am asking to know if I should mention this to the toyota repair guy to fix it.

All the rest is great. The drive is great and I am really enjoying using my new car :)
