Not mine but has anybody done this?
This is an overlay that cost $5 [$8.50 shipping] from these guys, they have Carbon Fiber and other colors. http://randode.com/store/newstore.html

I like yours, did mine much the same. The color of mine doesn't come out well in the pic, its a lot closer to the color of yours. And yes, I need to detail my engine bay. IMG_4385.JPG |

Looks good but not much of a yellow fan. For 5 buck in a different color, yea, sure!

^ the 5 bucks gets you vinyl overlays for VVT-i and Logo. It is not an overlay for the entire cover.

little color
Nothin' too special but it's a start. I like clean (even though my engine/bay is filthy). With blue pullys and stabilizer should improve...

Any gamers out there?
Finally got around to playing Gears of War III, and I was inspired
Look familiar, anyone? Every time I pop the hood, I feel like I should look around for COG tags Needs a good detail, doesn't it...? |

Here is mine I did a couple days ago. After removing Engine Cover Soaked it in bath tub for about twenty minutes with dish soap. Then dried it, sanded it and cleaned it up further with rubbing alcohol. Then I used painter's tape and taped up the Toyota and vvti-i lettering. Then I took a razor blade and trimmed the edges of the tape so that the lettering would be perfectly and cleanly cropped with black highlights around it where the surface raises a bit on each letter. Then I sprayed with some adhesive promoter two light coats. Then within ten minutes of second adhesive coat began applying the paint.
Matched my paint as closeley as possible with some Old Ford Blue high temp 500 degree Rustoleum Engine Enamel. Applied three layers of paint. After an hour and a half I removed the painter's tape from the lettering and mounted the White Micro Image Sticker while paint was dry to touch but not completely cured. Then let sit overnight and installed back on my engine the next morning.

These are really neat. I have yet to open the hood (1 1/2 days old) being it's dark when I go to work and it's dark when I get home. But this weekend, I'll have ideas.

I actually took mine off and threw it in the trash. They're pointless and ugly. I love the look of a DOHC cam cover

What paint do you use on the cylinder cover
How do you go about painting the cylinder cover.
Looking to do that on my 2010 yaris |

Spray paint works, make sure it's rated for high-heat and will bond to plastic. Prep is simple, wash and de-grease the cover, prime it, then paint it. Pretty simple. Also helps to do a light sanding before painting.
