Hvac digital conversion?

I have a 2009 Yaris hatchback. I have the analong hvac in the dash?? Is there any chance to be able to replace it with the digital one?? And if so, is it plug and play? I mean it's the same harness? Or I have to convert the wirings aswell?
I don't believe on fairytales, I am sure that even it's possible it will require a ton of modding :p

I've seen it done once. Took a shitload of money and effort.

Then I guess it's not worthy. God why everything is that complicated.

It was done by a Canadian owner several years back. Unfortunately the whole thing was documented on the now defunct microimage site.

If I recall, one of the biggest issues was replacing all the vents with new ones that had actuators on them.

I did the conversion for him. He had to order quite a few parts from Japan, and had to move the servos over from the Japanese airbox to the USDM one (as they are mirror images of each other). He didn't import a fan with the electronic speed control, so I also had to reverse engineer the protocol between the JDM HVAC ECU and make a microcontroller based speed controller for the stock fan. Here's a video of me testing the functionality before shipping it to him:

Too bad it looks like so much work to add. I really miss the digital HVAC system from my Prius and wish my Yaris had it. But for the amount of work and cost involved, I'll just run that sucker manually.

Someone must have the kit, since the car was totaled a couple years back.

The HVAC parts were sold off.

I wish it was just a plug and go thing :( why so much work for something like that. Really. The way it looks, it's easier to build my build my own a/c into the car from the scratch than all of this.
At the end of the day everything has a reason. Do you want digital hvac? Ok order the car with them on it and pay +1000 € for this extra. Damn...

Your work is impressive. Good job

Indeed.! I prefer to put a real inverter on the car like the ones we have at home with the less amount of work
Just think about it 🤣
