You did dilute the coolant to 50/50 with water i hope as straight coolant does not work well,the way to get air bubbles out of the cooling system is to burp the radiator which involves running the car with radiator cap removed for about 20 minutes or until you see the thermostat open and the water starts rushing around the system,replace rad cap at this point and you wont have any air in the system.

you need to fill the overflow. there is a line on the side of the overflow tank that indicates where the levels should be both with the engine hot and with the engine cold. It needs to be filled to that level.
