Converting Yaris from DBW to DBC?

Does anyone have a clue on how to convert the yaris from the Drive by wire system to Drive by Cable... I know I would need a new throttle body that isn't electronic and a new pedal and whatnot, but i think thats about it. Has anyone else looked more into this subject? Thanks for the input!

well mechanically that's all that would be needed, yeah, but you'll also need to look into the electronic side of things, the ECU will still be looking for the throttle position signal, and will probably go nuts when it can't get it.

The simplest solution, I guess, is to keep the original electric throttle somewhere, still connected, but just not doing anything...

yeah, just so the sensor is tricked that it is there, but just not active... I was trying to make a ITB kit for the car, but i keep scratching my head when all the throttle bodies are cable driven...

even the ones Danstoy uses are cable driven so there must be something different here..but I have no clue, it completely stumped me..and im not going to be an ass and ask Danstoy all his secrets hahah, I need to figure out SOME things

What i also found on a Lexus board where they were trying to convert was

Quote:
Hell, if you want to get rid of DBW on the stock TB... just unplug the throttle control motor, open up your accelerator pedal position sensor assembly, rotate a few degrees to give the cable connection full control over the butterfly, and call it a day.
but this conflicts with it

Quote:
I did this with my altezza's TB but what i found was that since my throttle lever and TPS are one unit i had to rotate the TPS sensor as well. With the TPS rotated the bolt holes didnt line up again so that was problem # 1. Problem #2 was that the throttle cable was too long when i did this. With the Altezza the DBW controls idle and is active throughout the complete throttle range. The manual cable only turns the butterfly at about 60% throttle and opens it till about 75% throttle.

Well you could do something real clever and use the DBW's motor to turn a lever that pulls on the ITB throttle cable, that could do the job too without having to change pedals or anything. Of course, you'd still have the characteristics/disadvantages of a DBW throttle.

Yeah, that is true, i don't really care for the Yarii system of DBW its like eh... too jumpy for me, but its my girls car... but hmm...maybe cap off the cable lever on the ITBs and link the wires up ? might work a little more fab than i expected but thats ok..

Wait for reflashing ability. Converting it to cable is not worth the hassle.

The DBW gain and pedal travel to TB blade travel are fully adjustable.

drive by wire is electronic while drive by cable is cable driven... look at an older car, you can grab the cable and tug on it and it will rev the engine...

You can adjust the DBW response in the factory ECU

you need to be able to reflash the ECU, and thanks for the idea, I just didn't think the TPS on the pedal kicked in in those first 5mm, but if its adjustable from the ecu that would be alot easier, and I figured out a way to wire another throttle body and tap into the existing tps and just trick the ecu...
