Dad,
I'm in exactly the same boat as you (I also like to swap cars often). My year-old loaded '09 liftback is also worth $10K in trade. The car stickered at ~$16.5K. For the time being, it looks like we'll have American car levels of depreciation. I blame the latest Toyota financing promos (and the UAW/government witch hunt) for the crappy resale values.
