GI: 1NZ-FE Forged Rods

I know that there was another thread that gauged interest but i died because of the price, well that is not the case here.

I am having rods custom made, I already have an estimated price on my end and i will try to offer them as cheap as possible but they will not be $750 i can say as much. I would expect that price for 6 cylinders, not from 4 cylinders.

I am gauging interest here first before the scion forums because this is my first and foremost home. I will post more updates as I talk to the company more, but here are the specs.

I would also like to get a group buy going on once i receive more info from them, but i will let everyone know when the time comes. I am hoping for 5 people will knock $25 off the price and 10 people will knock around $50 off.

This is a pic from another company that orders their rods from the same place i am ordering from

Whoever is interested please post up and if anyone is interested in more information toss me a message, but i will post it later once i hear more from them.

Hopefully i can bring some new development to the peppy 1NZ-FE engine

i broke one on a bone stock engine with about 40K on it... the high rev's kills them.

well, essentially, if you want (a lot) more boost, you gotta eliminate the "weakest links" in your engine, in this case, the rods. It's also good to uprate the rest of the bottom end, since that's where there's the most stress from the higher compression.

please name the company. there are only 6-7 trusted names in the connecting rod world, and honestly, if it's not one of them, no one should be interested.

Well you'll have to understand, I cannot tell because I have done work to find this company and i can't afford to have people stealing my thunder(had it happen once in the ecu business and hes ruining all of the companies), but i can give you more information about them.

They are made from a tried and true design that has great performance properties, and i am trying to offer these at a competitive price.

These are the same rods that are used in Audi S4's for applications 600+hp, but torque is what matters and not hp when talking about this, and they have been used in 600+wtrq applications as well. There should not be any doubt that they can't handle any situation

Really hard to guage the strength, but the design looks strong and is currently used in the industry.

Crower has had rods available for quite some time. You can buy them through a vendor here in Florida.

any aftermarket rod will be 1000% stronger than a factory rod & heavier also due to material used and design i.e. H Beam or I Beam

they are made from 4340 Chrome Moly Steel, if you take the weight/measurements of the stock one and compare the materials you can figure out the weight, other than that i couldn't say for sure until they are manufactured

How much are the crower rods, i didn't know they sold them for the 1nz yet.

I got Pauter rods - nowhere near $750 either.

Nexus, no one wants to steal your gig -- the maker's name is important, as Tamago said. I'm sure everyone would love for you to handle a Group Buy. I simply wouldn't buy rods without knowing where they came from.

i could make rods out of 4130 at my shop

but i'd never try to sell them

i'm not a chemical engineer, i don't study metallurgy

if it's not Crower, Carrilo. Pauter, or 3 others, forget it..

This is a little off-thread so forgive me.

If someone were to go through the inconvenience and cost of replacing the rods, what other components should be upgraded in order so survive the moderate boost that a turbo would impose? Is there a thread on a properly built Yaris engine?
