CT Scott: Help!

The pictures show the dammage to my car from my most recent accident. The horn, right front turn signal, and right front hi beam are out. The wire loom in the picture was pinched but I was able to free it. Any of these wires have anything to do with the affected items? Are these items common to the electrical system somehow? I dont see any dammage to the lights theyre on the right of the car and the impact was mostly left.

Insurance says $2137 of which I have a $2000 decuctible. Im very possibly will be out of a job in a month and the car is drivable as is. If possible Id like to have the lights and horn working while deciding to have the work done or not.

Thanks so much!

That wiring harness feeds all of the affected things. The horn though may also have its wire ripped right out of its connector. That is common for front end hits. I would get the bumper off to get a better look at that harness. Also feel for broken wires within the insulation where the pinch was. Enviri's bumper wouldn't be a bad idea. You could even just shoot it black with krylon if you didn't want it to be grey.

Alas I am an old man (58 this year) and in deplorable physical condition. About all I can do is change oil, sparkplugs and brake pads.

If you can change oil, you can change a Yaris bumper. I think the bumper weighs less than 4 quarts of oil.

If you want to do a road trip, you could head up this way and we could install Enviri's bumper and troubleshoot your wiring. Just don't make any right turns on the way.

Talked everything over with The Boss last night. Something completely unexpected came up! I had always suggested we sell her 05 Camry with 110k on it and keep just the Yaris when we retire. She now seems agreeable to that. The car is worth $8k, and we'd save $1000 a year on insurance. (oh how I HATE that car!)

IF we kept the Yaris for her to drive naturally she would want it was cosmetically perfect as possible and $2000 to have the shop fix it would be a no brainer.

Having that accident may have paid me like $18,000 over ten years!

Very good. That sounds like a smart plan.
