I don't mean to be rude or anything but when you said you don't have to bleed the brakes, you still have to no matter what when you do something like this to your brakes. I've been through two years of auto but i'm still a noob. All we did in that class was dis-assemble American engines *shivers* and re-assemble them and then we moved on to oil changes and brake pad swaps. Still good DIY though

I may have made a mistake. I should mention that. I'm an admitted noob when it comes to anything in the wheel wells. If I did make a mistake tell me and correct me and I'll fix it in the DIY. However, the car performs fine as is and I was in contact with Dezod the entire time, so I don't think there were any mistakes.

Haha I'm still a noob also man. Bleeding the brakes is a PITA though. But if you were in contact with Dezod I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing but it might be a nice idea to get those bubbles out of the brake fluid and bleed them though. Still a clean install compared to when I did my first brake replacements.

I have to say NO.

ABS or not, the brakes do not need to get bleed for a brake PAD swap. Especially in this case where is not a 25,000 miles car getting pads.
I would suggest opening the brake fluid cap first though, before compressing the piston back in the caliper.. makes it a bit easier.

Great DIY Charles. You're such an asset to the community. BTW, I told you would feel a tremendous response difference in braking.

yeah theres no reason why you would have to bleed the brakes. do open the reservoir and be carefull that when you push back the piston you don't overflow the tank and damage the paint.

so you can place a CLEAN rag on the top of the reservoir to soak up the extra fluid.

I'll edit the DIY with the new info. Thanks for the clarification Chris! Basically, if you do have trouble getting the assembly back on you can remove the bleeder cap and use a C clamp or something comparable to depress the piston. For the record, it was a snug fit but mine went back on without having to do this.

When doing a standard brake service (r&r pads & cut rotors) we do not bleed the brakes. It was the same when I worked for Honda and Acura, as well.

I'm sure though, being the 148975616478964564th person to point this out, that it's probably just pissing you off at this point.

Let's see. If I remember correctly, repeated information gets to people faster than information stated once =P

Well, today I went outside and took all of my clothes off and built a bonfire. I began chanting in something that sounded to be of a West African origin, but nobody could really tell. After about an hour I realized I cannot drive rain clouds away by speaking to trees and went back inside.

58 and partly cloudy this Sunday.
