That's the water pump leaking. It's normal for our cars a bit actually.. check the underside of the hood. If there's pink spray there too, then your water pump is leaking under pressure. Mine does this, but it hasn't failed me yet. I've got spray under the hood, a lot of it, and I've not lost any coolant nor had the pump fail yet.

Without replacing the water pump, no.

A water pump weep hole prevents a major problem from occurring, by letting minor leakage have a place to escape.
The system operates under pressure, and a tiny bit of fluid almost invariably weeps past the pump shaft seal, but it's really, really tiny. As in not worrying about replenishment for 50,000 miles tiny, as others have found. Small amounts of moisture or oil around the weep hole is probably not a problem, but if there is significant leakage of water or oil, it's time to replace the water pump. Keep an eye on your coolant level (cold, measured at the overflow bottle) if you see a significant coolant loss (low to no coolant in the overflow when cold) the pump probably needs replacing (should replace it anyway, if it is leaking, the next time you do the serpentine belts) [every word above was stolen, but is the truth about the 'weeping'] |

I've never seen the antifreeze shoot onto that hose before like that. Only under the underside of the hood. My first pump started doing that at 30,000mi. the second one started a little over 1200mi! It's been on and off since. Unless I see a steady loss, I'm riding out the winter with it as is. I bought a spare A/C Delco pump and a gallon of the Toyota antifreeze so I'm ready on a moments notice if it fails bad again...

Well if it can hit the hood in a line pattern you can reason it can hit anything else in the area in a pattern like that.

I don't know the colour of AC fluid.. maybe it's that? it COULD be leaking out of the AC hose

An a/c leak would look like a clear oil, unless there had been dye put in in which case it would be a bright green oil (very noticeable with a UV light-fluorescent dye) The pink can only be coolant

you could always just wipe it of and check it every time after you drive to see what the drip/spray pattern is while it's wet.

Look at the underside of the water pump pulley with a flashlight and mirror, or remove the pulley.. You'll see. I had the same pink "splat" I never noticed till I had to replace the water pump. The impeller was hitting the engine block which is what made me check it out to begin with. That also explained why my ac compressor was always running.. Some pink crusty stuff fell into the compressor clutch (from behind the water pump pulley, due to the leak) and provided just enough engagement to keep the compressor spinning whether the clutch was electrically engaged or not. You couldn't see any of this (except for the splat) till the water pump pully was removed. My pump was leaking for quite some time but a very small leak. Never any drips that I noticed on the garage floor. |

I found mine. When I saw the streak of pink crud. Running from the back to front on the inside of the hood. Also the whole inside rim of the pulley was full of pink crud.
