Motor Problems on DVD Head Units?

Im deciding on a double DIN head unit. I keep seeing the motorized screens that slide-in and out, tilt/adjust and pop out to insert CDs and DVDs.

I can only think of headaches and money loss when the motor seizes on these things (they all do...eventually).

Anyone have experience with this brand (Power Acoustik) featuring a fixed screen unit with DVD slot on top? I know, its not Alpine already but I dont have an Alpine budget....and I dont need navigation.

Depends on your needs; sound or for video. For sound probably lacking, but for video probably fine. What the Model #? I also agree with the motorized screen comment.

I have a motorized face cd player that I have had for like 4 years now. The face still works fine on it.

Found it a little cheaper, and in stock. Depending on how much $$ I get from my LeBaron parts I'll probably look into getting this as well. Anyone looking for a stock head unit?

Show some pics afterwards. Can you get the harness for toyota with this unit. Let me know if you can figure out the bypass for the brake trigger safety.

Done. PTID-5800 on the way.

Chinavasion. Sounds like a movie!

Anyway, most everything is from China nowdays.

I still dont want a motorized screen in a stereo HU. The touch screen is risky enough for me. Im crossing my fingers about the durability of this!

Fixed parts = less hassle.

After a LONGGGG wait for this head unit to ship, I finally found the time to install it. Im happy for a cheap purchase. Its receiving local TV stations without an antenna pretty well (i have an antenna on order though)...install was a bitch trying to wedge the thing in there using the Toyota factory brackets and the Metra side kit pieces.

BTW, I bypassed the brake wire safety feature by connecting directly to the ground wire. I must have my porno while in motion.

Uncle, I ordered the Toyota 1987 and newer wiring harness from ebay. That was the easy part!!

Pic quality is very decent with a lot of choice in adjustments.

The radio sounds better than I actually thought it would. Now I gotta concentrate on a sub and speakers to add to it...

Red, what was the part # from metra? You did a great job. Was the install that bad. Did you follow the DIY's on removing stock deck. Should have done a DIY. I'm gonna cruise down to the good old USA and bring one back, I looks really good installed and the blue goes with my theme.
