which one?
So the XB, XA, and the yaris all share the same exact engine. From a tuners stand point which is the best car to start to modify? Modify as in go faster. My thoughts are, the yaris is probably the lightest of the 3 so it would be the best. What are your opinion?

Muahahahahahahaaaa.... get the simplest, lightest one, pray and have patience for the aftermarket scene. Honestly, the less there is to the car off the lot, the better I feel about working it over. Plus it's the cheapest. I'd say Yaris.

You will not be making more than 5whp in a Yaris unless you go forced induction. This will cost you A LOT of money... atleast $3,000 when it is all said and done. If the ECU is indeed restrictive in these cars, I do not believe there is a chip/tuner available (as of yet) that alters any A/F ratio, timing, or shift firmness (for an A/T).

xpeteyjtx: please don't take this as an offense, but RE the question of "Which of these three do I get", I don't see how/if this applies or answers the above. If this was a "Yaris or 91' CRX or mkIII MR2" I could see how your statement is beneficial. Considering these choices however, I don't. As far as performance potential I think it has the least restrictions/highest ceiling of the three, though I agree the best stuff still needs to come down the pike from the aftermarket. Redduck, check out the UK Yaris sites to get a taiste of what can oneday be done.
Again, Xpete, I'm not trying to be a dick, just trying to keep it pertinent to the original question on choices. .02 |

Looking at the new stuff coming out..the XB..would give you room for stuff and can still be modded to your hearts content..I really like my 3dr yaris..but the new XB look like a great little car..my 3 cents

The xb gen 1 will never be a performance car. It lacks the agility. The 2nd gen also will take away from the after market for 1st gens. The XA is more nimble, but also changed completely to the XD.
The Yaris is no powerhouse, nor is it much of a ralley car. But of the three, drop the weight a little, increase handling, and wait for the big FI kits. I think Yaris is the best bet.
