Could not find in topics.Need help finding thread
The thread had a pic of which way to turn star wheel back brakes.
I will have the opportunity of having car up on a hoist and want to tighten pads using star through back slot/hole in rear of drum. I do not want to turn wrong way and screw it up and then have to remove drum. I will keep searching but really need to find thread that had pic showing what direction star wheel goes. Do I push star wheel up or down if standing directly under car? |

With your tool inserted in the access hole, lift up on the handle, forcing the blade of tool down.

I think if I push outer part of wheel(Facing into the car) the handle of the screw driver will be towards the ground? I will be standing directly underneath car. |

Take the drum off and practice doing it when you can see everything. This way you can visualize what is happening when working blind through the access hole. We've already had an exhausting thread on adjusting your drums. Don't want another.

What Wee said
The star wheel only turns one way anyways so it doesnt really matter as you cant mess it up. I've never had luck actually accessing the star wheel from the back hole, I personally find it much easier to just remove the drum and do it

+3 for remove drums. for one thing, can then remove outer ring of rust that can make drums hard to remove. and always good to blow out the dust and note a cylinder starting to seep. then can see how blade pushes against starwheel and turn that direction.
