Yaris Zinc 1.3 2007 P0121 CEL
Hi guys,
First time poster here in UK and it's the first car I have ever owned. Got a Yaris Zinc 2007 Feb this year and everything seemed perfect. One month on got a Check Engine Light, car went into limp mode and managed to limp home at 10mph. Got to a local garage who cleared the code and said engine was fine, etc. Got robbed £55 in the process. Another month later got the same light but this time I bought an ODB scanner. Code is P0121 which relates to the Throttle Position Sensor. Long story short, I replaced the MAF, Throttle Body, Air filter, Spark plugs, Oil and I'm still stuck. I can clear the code and run for about a month then it goes back to the CEL. I clear it and keep going a bit longer. Finally stumbled upon something on honest john website: "18-5-2012: Three identical faults reported with 2008 Yaris 1.3 SR models coming up as P0121 and requiring a replacement wiring loom costing £500." So I contacted the dealer to get a quote. They have quoted me £4000 inc VAT!! The car was bought for £2000! Even if I bought the part by itself they want £1445. To make matters worse I have found a Toyota Service Bulletin that says if you get certain DTC codecs (P0121 being one of them) you need to replace the engine wiring with a new and improved part. I don't see how people on the honest john website got it replaced for £500. I'm not sure what do to now. The care is great except for this one niggle. Anyone got any advice, bar selling the car? |
