3 door LiftBack : do 08 head light fits 09?

actually i bought a 09 3 doors Liftback, i want to put a 08 full kits on it, but I'm concerning about the fitment of 09 headlight....

the 09 headlight & front Bumper is a bit different than 08, so if I replace the 09 headlight with a 08 one, and put a 08 full kits on it, would everything fit together?

thanks

i do not think it will fit

there are slight differences between them

i think the holes do not line up as well, so you would have to drill your own holes i believe

I noticed a slight difference in the shape of the hood and light area between the 08s and 09s. The light has a different contour along the edge of the hood.

The hood piece is the same. The lights have a different contour along the top of the bumper along side of the grille.

the most concern for me is the holes doesn't line up, i might try to find a 08 headlight to test fit the fitments & holes

Me and CTScott had ours next to eachother and he tooks pics. I have an 08 and he has an 09. We noted that most of the holes were the same, but you should PM him and see if he has pics to confirm. We popped the hoods and compared everything, etc.

Also, someone did an 08->09 conversion.. so I'd assume the difference would be the opposite of what is done in that conversion, haha.

Here are some pics for comparison:

08 Headlight:

09 Headlight:

All sheet metal (i.e. hood and fenders) is the same. The person who did the 08 to 09 conversion found that one of the mounting tabs for the 09 headlight did not line up with the mounting tab for the 08 headlight. Other than that it sounded like the conversion went well, so going in the other direction should not be an issue either.

Yes, the yw user named "rplai" did the swap, it all worked for him when he bought all 09 parts to fit to his 08. The only thing that will obviously not work is mixing lights from 08 with bumper from 09 or vice versa. You have to have an 09 bumper with 09 lights or 08 bumper with 08 lights.

Update: Sorry, I meant "rpalai" here is his garage:

It might fit but you'd have an extra pair of air inlets.

Another member has done a 2007 to 2009 bumper conversion and he shows you
the area where the problem is. You'll probably find the same problem area (near the headlight)- but in reverse, since you're going from 2009 to earlier. LINK
