Trinidad & Tobago issues (English language)
I bought a Yaris sedan recently. It's gives a very slight 'bump' while driving. Occasionally feels a little wobbly. Now, honestly, it's VERY slight, but I'm a stickler for details, so I notice it.
When I took it back in and test-drove with a technician, he told me that I'm about the 18th person to come in with this issue (the majority were women, only 2 men -- I didn't get why this statistic was of ANY relevance whatsoever), and that is is because of the "design of the suspension of the Yaris and new Corolla". He said it will always give a very slight 'wobble' type drive. And that is just the design, not an actual fault or problem. Now, I find this hard to fathom that I can buy a brand new car and NEVER have a completely smooth ride. Someone mentioned to me it could be an issue with the drive shaft. Any thoughts on all of this are welcome. |

I assume this is mostly on bumps, or when you let go of the gas

Maybe is when he let go of the gas.

It is noticeable every time I'm driving slow enough to pick it up. Both accelerating and braking.
It's not the bumps in the road, as it happens on smooth roads, and it's a 'uniform' bumping feeling. So it's not a bump with the imperfections in the road, but it's a uniform bump. Thx. |

I would say it is just engine movement. Is your car a automatic? I would take it to the dealer if it gets harder which might be a defective mount in the engine. But that king of "mild " bump could be normal especialy in our subcompact cars. Just my humble opinion

Hi, thanks for your opinion. Yes, it's automatic. I'll certainly keep an eye on it, and take it in again if it gets worse.
The technician at Toyota says it's just how the suspension is designed, but I honestly find that hard to believe that they would design it in such a way that I DON'T get a smooth ride. Odd. Thanks again. |
