Interior Swap?
Has anyone ever swapped a yaris sedan interior/dash for a yaris hatchback interior/dash? Or vice versa? if so what problems did you encounter? I really like the interior of the hatchback way more than i like my sedans interior, mainly because of the extra storage compartments.

I think it would be pretty difficult to do. For the dash for instance, even the metal pipe that all of the dash components mount to has different brackets, so not just the plastic, but also that assembly would have to be changed. Also, the sedan has a different connector to the cluster, so that would need to be changed out as well.

Too bad you're on the other coast. I have the main structure of the upper and lower halves sitting in my garage from Crashy.

If I'm not mistaken but weren't the two yarii (Vitz and Belta) made by two different designers?
What are the odds that the measurements along with the correct mounts will just be a simple swap? I mean back in '07 people were asking if the sedan cluster fit the LB cluster, the answer was no due to different size. I'm pretty sure it's the same with the dash. When sitting in a sedan(I drive a LB), the front dash looks wider and longer then the LB. However my depth perception may have been thrown off with other instruments in the sedan Perhaps someone can give you measurements. From what I visually compared, I don't see the swap be an exact swap and some customization will be needed. |

In regards to the question of size difference, I took a couple of measurements. The overall width (at the widest point) of the upper dash is 53". The dimension between the two bottom mounting screw holes for the lower portion is also 53". dash.jpg |

I've been doing some research and looking at pictures of people modding their consoles/ opening them up. from what i can see, underneath the dash is almost the exact same layout. I'm more than willing to give this a shot and make a tutorial, the only reason i'm doubting that this might not work is because of the door panels, which i've already purchased. The first thing i noticed before is that the door panels on the hb are a bit different in style and measurement. Im not too sure about measurements, i guess i'm praying it will work. Second thing i noticed is that there is no way the hb dash will fit with sedan doors or vice versa without doing some modifications of my own, (meaning busting out my trusty dremel). So i'm going to take you up on your offer, pm me Ct scott. I'm hoping you'll be able to help me out in finding all the replacement panels for the dash where the compartments go. In the mean time ill be changing the led's in my car, and getting familiar with all the nuts and bolts, and ill post pics up of my progress. One more thing in regards to what you said about the connectors to the cluster. Are you talking about the Climate or the Speedo? Last edited by A1phazu1u; 10-23-2009 at 02:08 AM. Just partially finished my light mod. All that's left is the Speedo. Thanks to REVNULL and his DIY! http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9857 Here are some pics.
![]() ![]() ![]() Just so you can get an idea. Pictures don't do it justice, it looks absolutely amazing in person. The blue looks almost teal in the picture, but its really a deeper color in person. Last edited by A1phazu1u; 10-23-2009 at 06:22 AM. Reason: Enhance |
