The best way to pose this question would be to ask folks to tell you how much they paid in relation to invoice, because cars with different options will sell for different prices.

I paid invoice for my 2009 Yaris Sedan AT back on 4/13/09, and I got 0% financing for 60 months through Toyota.

(I actually paid $145 over invoice, but that included a lifetime unlimited mileage warranty on the drive train. They charged me $145 for the policy. Take away that policy, and I paid invoice for the car.)

Tom

I paid $20 over actual invoice for mine. Note that the invoice Toyota provided was $80 higher than the one we got on the Internet (I can't remember the site...my dad has it bookmarked for when he buys vehicles), so we actually paid $60 below what the Toyota invoice said, but $20 higher than what the actual invoice was according to that magic website.

EDIT: Note that mine is a 2009 4 door sedan and not the 5 door (I've never even seen one of those IRL)

MSRP on mine was $16,800. Not sure about invoice but I think it's around $15500.
Sedan, Auto, Power package, tint, fog lights, mats.
Threw in $4500 for CARS (1999 Ford Explorer Trade-in value $650).
Told the dealer I'd pay $11,500 OTD (tags, fees, everything). They balked at first (they offered $13,800), I told them that was my only offer and they went for it.

Final bill:

Car 10060
Dealer Fees 600
Tax 690
Title and Tags 150

$11,500 OTD

I'd like to think so... Gave up my POS Explorer to sweeten the deal. I've already put more miles on the Yaris I've had for 2 weeks than I did on that SUV in the last 4 years.

2009 Yaris 3dr 5spd manual. Meterorite Metallic
includes: Power package, fog lights, remote keyless and lifetime protection package

MSRP 15,783-
CARS 4,500-
Rebate 750-
Told the salesman we needed his lowest price as we had already been through a week of hell with Nissan. (a whole other nasty, sordid story) My wife was still stressed out over it and told the salesman not to push, we had just walked away from Nissan. He sold us this car for $10,000 flat, including tax, tag and title. We think we got a "smoking" deal! And we think we will be much happier with the Yaris than we would have been with the Versa!

Sweet! We looked at the Versa too, but though the dealer had at least 30 of them they were all the same and not what we wanted. Next stop was Toyota.

I've always gotten the best deal when I've walked into the dealership with my financing already approved. I have a credit union so when they offer me to use their financing, I ask if they can beat the terms I already have and the answer is usually no. Excluding the gimmicky 0% deals of course... Telling them that you will cut them a check right then and there for x price put's the pressure on them to come through on the deal.

Yep that's the way to go. I actually took the loan from my parents lol (nice low interest rate :D) so we just wrote a check when I got mine.

EDIT: The dealer said that they prefer someone to finance of course, because it's more money for them I suppose, but it's a lot easier to get a good deal when you show that you have the money already.

I'm jealous!! 10K out the door for a brand new Yaris with extra stuff?!!!
sounds like a really good deal to me! i was looking at Craigslist tonight, and they're still asking over 10K for 2007 Yarii, LB, with between 28k and 50K miles.
