Ideally, you want it to blend with the paint. So gloss black definitely over flat.

Fortunately, black is probably the easiest color to match in this case.

To do it perfectly, a paint shop would mix your paint code and paint them instead of simply buying standard gloss black. But you don't have to be that perfect.

Or you could even buy paint that is your paint code and paint them yourselves if you wanted to.

+1

It is best to get the paint at AutomotiveTouchUp.com (lots of YW members have been able to get a perfect match that way). Also remember to get a can of clearcoat to seal it all up.

HTH!

Contrary to popular belief, there are many shades of black as used by auto manufactures. One might have a bit more blue cast than another for example.
Actually, there is no such thing as "standard black" as one vendor's standard my be different then another vendor's's.

So, If it was me, I would get the proper paint code black for the yaris.

You definitely should clearcoat. It's the only protection paint has against the elements (UV rays, dust, bird poop, etc etc).
I think the real question is whether you want a glossy or matte finish, and there are other clearcoats out there that can achieve both finishes.

Love mine! TOTALLY changes the look, especially on a sedan. Bought my paint and clear from AutomotiveTouchUp as well.

I have done this and it worked great. I got my paint in a spray can from www.touchuppaintonline.com. Got the paint within a week and the paint matched spot on

Thanks man! I'll keep that idea in mind. Good luck with the painting. Do multiple thin coats with approriate dry time inbetween and you should be good. Post up a pic or two when you're done.

Looking forward to those pics! Hope everything turned out OK.
BTW, The eyelids were already primered; no need for that first can, although I guess it doesn't hurt to primer them again...
