MegaSquirt ecu

I just bought a megasquirt ecu and I'm planning to install it myself and was wondering if somebody had installed it in a 1nz-fe so maybe can give me a little help because I know how to install everything except the ignition and the megasquirt only has one cable for that and that's what I need to find out.
Any help will be appreciated!

It says you drive a Scion xB? That would be a different pinout than a Yaris, right?

Yes, its a different pinout. And yes its one wire for ignition output. I was reading and a possible solution can be modifying the ecu to have 2 cables for ignition and then using a term called wasted spark :/ no idea what that is but I'll keep reading and let you guys know!

What version MS do you have? I have V.3 and it accepts the stock crank signal. If you don't want to tinker with it too much, you can always go with an EDIS ignition setup that works easily with the MS. If you do this though, you have to install a 36-1 Trigger wheel and another VR sensor. With the stock setup, just jumper accordingly, feed the signal (1 Wire) to the MS ECU and it will control the 4 COPs.

wasted spark means the plug fires every revolution. The "wasted" spark fires during the exhaust stroke.

Do you have a more specific question? How about some pictures of your progress?

Did you install an aftermarket intake system?
Some have been known to cause CEL codes do to improper intake volume. Just a thought.

This will be a lot of work. Good luck with this. I have a MS2 sitting here for another project and am not willing to put the time into turning the Yaris into stand alone EFI. You will end up spending a lot of money just installing a mechanical throttle body. I'm also not sure if they TDI is logic driven or just dummy coils. I think its logic since they have 4 wires. Anyhow, I wondered about doing this, but it's not worth the trouble. There are better options.
