Bumper quick release latches

Ok, I believe I have decided to keep my body kit for reasons that I just like the way it looks so much...

I need help finding a good stainless steal (or something that wont rust) idea for quick release for your bumpers. I wanna remove my retainers and clips that hold the bumper on because they are taking too much of a beating from clipping cones during autocross.

I will be putting these on the front and the rear bumpers. If anyone as any experience with a certain name brand or type, please share your thoughts and how to order them.

Just wanna start this thread to see other ideas out there and share some info. If you are unsure of what I am talking about, here a few pics I found that look like good candidates, but unsure of quality and function.

Cali Yaris, if you see this and have access to a dealer that you feel are reputable. I will buy from you.

wow, thanks phil. As much as I hate passwordjdm and their over priced jdm stuff, not a bad deal.

I don't like that design. I wouldn't trust a body panel to a glorified rubber band.

Thats funny jeff. Looks like my setup currently on my right front bumper.

Hey cali, any recommendations? As far as other reliable vendors? I like that first pic design

Ok, so I was tired of my bumper having a huge gap so I been trying to figure out some way to use latches to keep my bumper on. I went to home depot and Lowes looking for some stainless steel latches. The only one I found that was half way decent were ones that looked similar to the 3rd that Cali Yaris posted. The only catch was that they are not stainless steel and are prone to rust over time, which I didn't want. I thought about using some clear primer, but I knew it would rub off in time due to metal on metal rubbing.

SO, I opted for the PasswordJDM.com style. I will have to say I am very impressed with these. The only downfall I see is trying to get a good measurement. I need just a little bit more tension on it. my next rear bumper will definitely fit better now that I know the length apart they need to be. The rubber band is very strong and seems very durable.

And now for the pictures

Here are mine, found them at home depot. I found them as hasps and they still look the same as the day I put them on in September. Sorry these are the best pics I have. I will try and get some closer shots after I get the car back. She's getting some repairs done and some new paint and other goodies I'll reveal later

Yea. I checked home depot. The only thing they had that resemble those were gold plated. Im very happy with these those. Go well with my color scheme. Need to purchase another set for the front.

I would have been more inclined to look for more if u had shown me these before i installed these though.

Please excuse me for sounding extremely ignorant... I think I'm getting old and recent trends may be getting the best of me, but isn't your bumper held on by the clips and supports behind the bumper?

Are these decorative pieces or are they functional?

The last question would be regarding the rear bumper. I can definitely understand how a quick release would be extremely useful for the front bumper (give the tiny hood and engine bay). Why would you need easy access for the other end?

Again, apologies, as this is completely new for me and I really honestly have no idea what the heck they are for. I've seen hood pins, and those make a lot of sense (for some applications), but I'm at a total loss for these quick releases.

2 things;

1) Anyone who has removed their bumpers has run a good chance of breaking some of the retaining clips. This results in sloppy fitment when reinstalled.

2) Many aftermarket bumpers have poor fitment and leave gaps when installed.

In both cases, these clips will tighten up that plastic to metal seam.

These are functional. They are used to hold the bumper on since once your remove the bumper you typically break most of the clips. Yes they have a visual appeal as well. In addition, if someone is running into fitment issue where the tires rub on the fender, you may have to take those bolts off and then these come in handy as they replace those original bolts holding the bumper to fender from inside the lip of the wheel well. This can be front or back

Nice Work Derrick, you may have convinced me to finally get a set.
