Spare tire relocation forward plan photo red Yaris 2007

For weight redistribution to drive wheels, and to maximize a flat low load floor when rear seats and all the trays and lids are removed. Not FOR cosmetic, but wouldn't consider it if unpleasing or likely to increase aerodynamic drag.
Mount will probably extend through grill opening(s) to structure behind. Any direction on where here to find bumper cover removal method will advance this project. Also, any examples of Yaris set up to tow behind an RV might reveal useful attachment points.

this is silly.
bumper cover removal is super easy. remove 5 clips on top, 1 clip in each wheel well. like 4 bolts underneath. pull at a corner/wheel well, press clipped in under lights.

I'm still not sure if this is a joke or not...

spare tire relocation, Mind of Toyota

Not joking on spare or difficulty figuring out clips. When first got the car had to replace different location marker lights on each side for inspection. Looked like bumper cover removal should be easier than pulling battery and air-box and a couple other things. Got all the obvious clips on top and bolts underneath, but something on each side just didn't reveal how to release without blind yanking risking breaking plastic. Does the shop manual show any little pictures? or just say "release clips?"
(How many of your wiring problems are because some frustrated mechanic couldn't find the release tooth lever in one of Toyota's no-two-connectors-can-be-the-same...so just pried and pulled on the harness until it opened?)
Sorry to dis on your favorite car, but some stuff is just too hard to service. First step in my 91 Corolla's heater core replacement is "Disassemble interior, dash and centerstack. See Chapters..." A forum thread here indicated Yaris heater core might be similar?

It seems scary. Feels scary, but to release the clips where bumper cover meets fender it is just a matter of giving it a good quick sharp tug. The clips will pop out. I was nervous as hell doing it the first time.

Bumper cover off and this is what you'll looking at.

Looks like a mount will be easy. Thanks for that photo.

Well they did have to tie it into the frame rail in order to get a strong enough attachment point to haul the vehicle out of a ditch.

How 'bout you kill two birds with one stone. Take the recent thread where some dude is asking about mounting a Tacoma brush bar onto the Yaris, figure that out, then attach your spare to it.

Why would you want to add all that weight in front of the front axle? It will throw off the handling of the car. The spare makes the most sense being stored where it already is.

I honestly doubt your sincerity with this...

You are doing it wrong. Notch the wiper tray and mount it on top of the engine.

Oh Lord....

My Renault 5 (Le Car) had the spare on top of the engine. Not sure why! Leave the spare where it's at, build your flat load floor on top of that, when you remove the rear seats, etc.

That's going to seriously hinder airflow to the rad and condenser.

I don't think that it'll have any real adverse affects on the cooling system. I have installed a custom grill that basically blocks off the top grill and haven't had any cooling issues, been driving as is for many years now.
