OEM Tires: How Long They Have Lasted Me!
Car has 40k miles on it now. Tires were rotated ONCE. The original fronts wore out at 35k miles. Car has new tires on the front and the two remaining OEM tires on the rear. These tires have been there for 5k miles and the tread 5k miles ago was just above the wear bars.
Which is where it is now. I intend to run these tires until there are large bald patches. I expect they will go maybe 15k more miles! Opinions? BTW bald tires on the rear can lead to spinouts on slippery roads on curves even if you are going a prudent speed! I don't drive much anymore and I don't have to drive in bad weather. But you want your best tires on the REAR not the FRONT because of this phenom. I was always brought up you want the best tires on the front (and maybe you do) but I had a minor accident two winters ago when I spun out at very low speed on a curve. ![]() Just FYI and Comments!
