My girls 2009 Yaris Hatchback 5-speed 1.5L has a 1/4 inch exhaust leak coming from the passenger rear where the hanger is. If that can not be welded, you need to get the complete exhaust from engine back for around $1200 from the dealer which is nuts.
Any input would be great ![]() |

Replacement pipes from the resonator back to muffler flange are available. Replacing that piece plus labour should be less than $200.

I currently am using this piece. American pricing is a hell of a lot less.

Pipe is cut where I've drawn the line. New piece replaces the length to the right of line. Resonator is immediately to the left.

Yes, it's direct connect to muffler. I know it's Canadian, but American sources can be found.

That would be good if you need a resonator as well. My first leak was holes developing at the resonator hanger. Might want to take look there. If it's solid, then you just need this

Metal on aftermarket is not as good as OEM, but good for several more years of running. Just have the union between old and new clamped, not welded. Cheap enough that if it fails, replace again. Also, a welded joint on old pipe almost certainly guarantees that your next point of failure will be that weld.

![]() I'm taking her Yaris in on Friday and will post back to you that afternoon. Hopefully the tiny crack can be welded, if not, then I will get that pipe |

Just a word to the wise... When you replace the muffler, and you will soon, get an OEM muffler. I made the mistake of saving a buck with an aftermarket muffler . Between the edge of it unavoidably rubbing and bouncing against the underside of the car making an annoying noise coupled with that it sounded like hollow tin can, i tore it off and threw it in the steel scrap dumpster at work after one week. But hey, you might like that...I didn't.
