2007 Gauge Cluster in a 2008

Will a gauge cluster out of a 2007 Yaris hatchback work in my 2008? It’s on eBay and the miles are within 1,000 of mine. He lists that it will only fit a 2006-2007 Yaris hatchback. He also lists it as fitting a vehicle without ABS. I believe mine has ABS, but there is no ABS light on the gauge cluster. So, I’m hoping he’s just referring to that.

Here is the eBay listing: https://ebay.us/m/zvcy0Z

Since absolutely nothing had changed between '06 and '08 I cannot see any reason this gauge would not be compatible.
The ODO reading is stored in the ECU not the gauge. A new cluster should show your actual mileage.
Why are you needing a replacement cluster?

The current gauge cluster has two issues. One is that the LCD screen where the mileage and fuel gauge shows, is unreadable. The plastic screen for it melted and blistered. I don’t know why. The light is also very dim.

The other issue is that the clear plastic cover is sanded or blurred, not sure what to call it, right over the tire pressure light. It like someone taped it off and then buffed it with sand paper.

I went ahead and purchased the gauge cluster. I will post once it’s here and installed. On Facebook, people were saying the mileage was stored in the LCD screen, not the ECU. Once guy also said that if I put a different gauge cluster in, the engine light would turn on and never be able to be turned off.

i have swapped clusters - the mileage is stored in the cluster, not the ecu.

I installed the 2007 instrument cluster into my 2008 last night and it works perfect. No check engine light or anything. The maintenance required light was on, but I just reset it.

Where was the ODO value actually stored? Gauge or ECU?

It was 100% stored in the gauge on the cluster. My original cluster said 62k miles. This one now says 60k miles. Luckily, I just did an oil change less than a few hundred miles ago. So, I'll just change it at 65k. This is about the only thing it should affect.
