call me stupid.. or call me lazy for not doing the research myself, but I am interested in doing some JDM-ish mods to mine. I have the 07 sedan S... HOWEVER... is the Vitz even manufactured as a sedan in JP??? I'm looking to do more cosmetic than engine, so if anyone has anything for me... please share!!! Thanks, Ashlee!! ![]() **** |

It is available in Japan, but named "Belta"
Also sold in Asia as the "Vios" search the site for these names and you'll find tons of info

Except for frame and powertrain, the Yaris sedan (Belta/Vios) and Yaris HB (Vitz) are two completely different cars. The Vitz/Yaris was designed in Europe and the Belta/Vios was designed in Japan. The two cars have very few components in common.
The Yaris sedan, as we know it, is not a new car for Toyota; it looks almost identical to the original car introduced in Japan as the Belta and throughout Asia as the Vios in 2001 (I think). In 2006, the Belta/Vios underwent the standard 5-year Toyota facelift, which was minimally cosmetic. The Yaris HB was initially introduced as the Vitz/Echo/Yaris in Sedan and HB (3dr and 5dr) versions. Then it was completely redesigned by the same design team in Brussels and reintroduced as the Vitz/Yaris in 2006 in only HB versions. The sedan version of the Vitz/Echo was dropped. Why the Belta/Vios was introduce as a Yaris sedan in the States (and Canada) defies logic. |

Yeah I thought was a dumb move on Toyota's part also.. as to sit in each car & then drive each car . The look & feel is way different between the two .. I'D guess that they are trying not cut into their Corrola sales here as the Corrola's are made here in the US . the Yaris sedan is a nice car & is way better than the Echo SEDAN ever was & the Styling is way better than a Corrola . the Echo Sedan never took here as it's just BlaH ! Echo Sedan or Corrola when looking for a small car , everyone took the Corrola over the Echo Sedan here in the US , Now they have another Choice "the Yaris Sedan" .. but it's Soo great that finally released a 2 door small car into the North American market as in the Yaris L/B .. I know they have the MR2 but that's not a practical car for everyday use & is pricey .. Around here the LiftBacks are selling like hot cakes . since I got my Black L/B , the others guys at work have looked mine over & soo far 4 have them now .. & more are moving in that dirrection GOOO YARIS !!!
