I f'ed up big time
I got my new wheels installed today and, in the process of taking the old steelies out of the back seat when I got home to throw them into storage, one of them slipped from my grip and landed with a sickening CLANG! on the passenger's side sill plate (the panel under the bottom of the passenger's door). It put a nice dent in the metal panel and took a nice gouge out of the paint, exposing bare metal, all of which is still visible and exposed to the elements even with the passenger's door closed, which I know is not good.
I'm going to take it to a local body shop ASAP, but it won't be until Thursday (3 days away) and I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar incident in the same spot. I'm not sure if it can be replaced (since it's not a bolt-on panel) or repaired due to the location. The bare metal is exposed in about a 1/2" square and I'm wondering if I should cover it with something to prevent rust? Any help would be welcome. |

Over the winter, my passenger side rocker panel suffered three attacks from a snow plow. There's now three large gouges there, also with bare metal exposed. This happened in mid December, and I still haven't done anything with them. No rust yet. Personally, what I'm going to do is when I finally get a pair of side skirts, I'm going to sand down the area, clean the area, spray on some rustoleum paint, and mount the skirts.
Basically what I'm saying is you don't need to do anything right now. Just go to the body shop and you'll be fine

You could put a little tape over that if you're concerned about rust in the short term.
sorry that happened!

Do they make aftermarket side skirts for the 09's yet? I'm not sure what they look like installed, but would they cover that rocker/sill panel under the door?

The Kaminari Side Skirts (http://www.kaminari.com/toyota-yaris...de-skirts-pair) say they fit 2006-2009, but so do all their other body panels even though the 09's have different front and rear bumpers, so I'm not sure if they'll fit. Anyone had success with these on a 09 LB?

The Kaminari side skirts will fit your car assuming you have a 2 dr. but need to see how bad the damage is.
