Cut bumpstops IF using upgraded struts?
I've done a ton of reading and the general consensus seems to cut a bit off of the bumpstop, but it's always in regards to using stock struts. How about if it's paired up with a set like TRD or Tokicos? I havn't been able to get a straight answer
Please by all means this is not intended to start another bumpstop debate. |

http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/...4&id=501355111 I made the mistake of trying to be conservative in the ammount cut when putting in Tokicos and Teins... = back fire. See...I thought I could just go back in to cut some more...but the urethane prevents that. The fix was total disassembly and then cutting the urethane off for correct clearance. Soo..definitely depends on your drop... if you are going for anything higher than .5 inches... just cut it off from the urethane.== personal opinion.

So your talking about actually cutting through the white plastic piece? I was thinking of the combination of Teins and Tokicos ideally.
Wouldn't cutting the bumpstop allow the spring/shock to travel more and cause more rubbing? Like especially if you were taking a highspeed turn, the front tires would rub on the lip of the fender wells while turned? |

I have a total 1.9 inch drop (let's round up to 2 inches for this conversation). I've experience no rubbing as you meantioned. I've bottmed out before, but that's the chassis rubbing the pavement.
Pertaining to the urethane, if you click my FB page, those black marks on the white urethane are where correct measurements which the Tein paperpwork state where I should cut (second longer black mark). I thought I was okay with just cutting below as shown, but it didn't work. In regular driving, I would feel and hear the bump stop bottoming out. If you think you can cut through the urethane, go ahead, I didn't want to try it and then have to go back in a third time so I just cut it totally off. Lastly...what do you mean by high speed turn? I don't think they are connected. If there is to be any rubbing it is when you are driving through dips and bumps where the suspension needs to travel up and down to compensate for uneven ground.

So what do you mean you cut it off, your just using one piece of that yellow stop?
About that high speed turn thing, I was thinking if there was some sort of body roll, wouldn't it cause the tire to rub on the lip of the wheel well? |

I see what you're asking about the turns now...you might get a better response reguarding this from a member who has done some Autox-ing.
As for the pic, the image is upside down. I kept the portion nearest the bottom of the pic-minus urethane.

I have TRD and Tein setup with full factory bumpstop since 2006 . I have yet to experience any problem .
This vid has some good suspension footage of my setup in action ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=920nzEj3BLA
