light tinting

found some videos on youtube about tinting tail/head lights. looks pretty awesome. but i am worried that it will ereduce the effectiveness of the lights. is it just as permeable to light, or would this be a bad idea

this tint kit for headlights guarantees not to reduce light output. It's a pretty mild tint:

Tinting tails, as far as I know, always reduces output.

So it's not a spray or a film? Easy to apply? Might need to get up on that.
