They hate it.

Hmm according to them its cheap, reliable and fuel efficient, but noisy.

Logically they think quiet but expensive and constantly breaking down must be preferable.

That is more like them. Maybe the apocalypse is not coming soon. I was worried for a bit.

I do agree with CR Toyota should be doing more to get better gas mileage, but I also understand they want to protect the Prius at all costs.

Totally unsurprising. They've never liked the Yaris. And since, other than the interior and revised sheetmetal, this car is the same as it was in 2007, I wouldn't have expected it to be any different.

That being said, the Yaris is fairly dated compared to the new Fit. But the Yaris is smaller than the new Fit and Versa Note. It's more the size of the Mazda2.

Again, I maintain CR should stick to reviewing iPhones and toasters.

The Yaris continues to be a strong seller in Asia as it offers more upscale versions than ours. I suspect Toyota has gotten just about all it can from this platform and like the XD I suspect the Yaris will soon be absent from our shores.

This doesn't bode well for the Caucasian species Im afraid. Based on this I think its likely the Mongoloids will prove the dominate race. I think we should prepare to have our women raped and the men used as slaves...by some character resembling Ming the Merciless.

Ah well Im 58 probably I wont live to see it...

The latest Consumer Reports 2016 10 worst cars doesn't include the Yaris. It wasn't on the 10 best either. One of their ho hum cars in between.

"Our advice: Take the Yaris off your list if you’re looking for good, cheap, fuel-efficient transportation. Perhaps the smartest buy would be to find a two-year-old Prius instead—great fuel economy and top-notch reliability in a much better all-around package."

—Mike Quincy
This is funny to me because when I went to the dealership, I knew I wanted this vehicle despite the salesman trying to push me into a Prius or Corolla. I specifically took the Prius off my list because I didn't want to deal with the complexities of the batteries/gadgetry. Obviously, CR doesn't subscribe to the KISS principle, or maybe they are in bed with Toyota (24-hour love fest) and the Yaris was the collateral damage of them trying to throw off the scent of suspicion. Still, I don't care what anyone says, I have a smile on my face 400 miles a week, and no washed up, toaster reviewing rag is going to change that. :burn rubber:

The Prius has actually been very reliable and its battery very long lasting and trouble free.

Much more expensive and not cost effective too especially with $2 a gallon gas...

Styling kept me away from the Prius (not a fan of the new 2016 model either) and the Prius C. I'm not shelling out major $$$ for a car that I can't stand looking at, or don't enjoy driving. I would have considered a Yaris hybrid if it was available in the USA though. Still, I'm happy with my fun-to-drive '15 Yari, the 40-41 MPG that I am averaging - and the blissful lack of "bleeding-edge tech/features" that CR seems to covet in their preferred cars (which is bound to lead to annoying repairs down the road). No thanks! If it's not broke, don't fix it - something CR doesn't seem to understand.

Not quite. The phrase needed to be 'my 2015 Yaris SE'.
