I have a interesting question for everyone...
How much sound abuse can air bags take before the deploy? For example, I have all the airbags, could they take like 150 db without any problems? I realize I wouldn't be listening to 150 db as a dd. But does anyone know the amount of abuse an airbag can take before it explodes?
They may not do anything except enjoy the massage lol. But they also may deploy going 70 down the freeway. My system pushes a little less than 120 db, so I know it can handle that. My steering wheel and dash rattle but nothing has happened yet. So, any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Don't the airbags deploy based off sensors close to the exterior of the vehicle?
One sniping comment... I KNOW you have got to be doing more than 120 dB. I metered 136 dB at a competition with just two sealed 15" D series Solobarics and two ZR 360 amps back in the day...

I haven't found a spec for the force required to pop the Yaris' airbags, but the sensors are accelerometers. The CPU monitoring them must be able to distinguish between normal road bumps and vibrations and the impact force of a crash. I don't believe that a stereo system could induce force with a high enough amplitude in the proper direction to make one of the sensors think that a collision occurred.

@sq- idk for sure what it makes. I knew for a fact more than a hundred, but I haven't listened to too many 130-140 db notes so i wouldn't know how to judge it. I figured 120 was at least near the ball park lol
@ct- accelerometers u say... Neat lol. Out if curiosity, is there a way to disarm the airbags all together? Like make a toggle switch or something?

Sounds pressure just isn't that strong.
I had my mazda meter over 140dB on the Termlab meter which is the stiffest and most accurate spl meter. No air bag problems... However, I couldn't get the deck to keep from skipping, The score would've been higher had the deck not kept skipping. |

soundwaves that could set off an airbag sensor
would need to be well above lethal pressures, such as from sonic-boom stun-guns called "Thunder Generator cannons" |

Well, that's all I needed to know. Thanks for the useful and useless info :D
@sq - I didn't say there was a lack of hard hitters. It's just a lack of medium hitters lol. @Mobius - there are no stupid questions... only stupid answers.
