Padded armrest and door reflectors!!!

Anyone else wish the Yaris had a softer door arm rest? I emailed the guy I purchased my dash pads from to see if he had any thicker neoprene with an adhesive backing. It just so happened he does and it’s specifically for this purpose. He sent me a piece and I trimmed it to fit exactly where my elbow rests. It’s just thick enough to provide comfort but not so thick it looks ridiculous stuck to your door. Here are some photos.

In addition he sent me a couple reflectors made by 3M for the inside of the doors. Many “upper-class” cars have those safety lights built into the door so other vehicles will see you opening your door at night. Of course the Yaris lacks these, but, the 3M reflectors are huge improvement over stock. They are extremely visible at night.

Of course you DIY'ers could make these but for those who would rather buy them; The guys name is Wilson Wong and you can contact him at pilotpads@msn.com
Those of you who have the dash pads know how excellent his customer service is. I believe he will be putting these products on e-bay also so watch for that if they interest you.

I like your reflector placement. I'll probably copy it. I already picked up some oblong red reflectors and put them

Hi Petersredyaris I too have been upset by having no pad in the door armrest, I'm glad to see i'm not the only one. I like your setup and will contact pilotpads. Thanks.

I bought those mail box red reflectors at Lowe's...I got them installed in 2 different angles just like you did but not the same location..

Anyway I use auto but I barely rest my hand...driving habit, u know?
Bzut that's a good idea if I ever change my habit.

I was wondering the same, but when you are cruising and don't need to turn much, you can hold the steering wheel near the bottom and rest your elbow there, some padding there would definitely be good for extended periods of this kind of driving.

I dunno, IMO I just don't see a need for the the arm rest pads. They seem to stick out like a sore thumb, no offense or anything. Just not my style.

I actually think the door is pretty comfortable. It isn't hard unbearable plastic and I usually don't drive with my arm resting there really.

Just to add.. I do love the reflector idea. I'm definitely gonna go with that.

Yes, around town theres absolutly no need for it. However, I drive 100 miles/day of uncrowded interstate so I often use the armrest.
