Help with choosing Amp kit

Hi all,
I just picked up a bazooka tube sub/amp(http://www.sasbazooka.com/products/m...Watt-Tube-P202) with my Best Buy giftcard I got for Christmas. I know its not gonna rattle the windows...I just want something to get me a little something on the lows of my music.

Can you guys suggest either a good but cheap place I can get the amp kit and RCA cables from? I am going to do the install by myself, this is my first one, but I think that I can handle it. Also, what gauge wire should I use for the power line? I was reading through the manual on bazooka's site and it stated that it was 10 AWG, should I just use that?

Thanks a lot,
MYT

you could get away with a 12awg power cable kit... but always go overkill when it comes to power/ground cables, get at least a 10awg, 8awg would be even better.

If you ever plan on adding a small amp for your door speakers, then you should go with the 8awg, otherwise you'll have to upgrade your cable when you do add that amp.

If you have no desire to ever upgrade your stereo ever again... the 10awg will do.

check here for kits.

make sure your kit has.

a remote turn on wire
RCA cables (if you have an aftermarket deck) or 30ish feet of speaker wire ( if you use the stock deck)
A fuse & fuse holder
around 15-17feet of cable total (ground & power cable)

thats all you need, though there may be a few other things like some speaker wire, or a grommet for the firewall.

Thanks Talnlnky!!!

One more question, is 4 AWG possible with this little wimpy amp? The only reason I ask is because I can get a 4 AWG amp kit for free! If not, I will shell out the dough for the 8AWG.

Thanks again,
MYT

Yes, 4AWG will work, a bit of overkill, but it'll work fine.

Thanks DJ,
With other than the physical size of the power wire, why would it be overkill. I am a complete noob when it comes to powering amps and such. I am assuming that the gauge of the wire influences the amount of power that can flow through it correct?

Thanks a lot guys,
MYT

overkill as in you wont need it unless you plan on major upgrades in the future. it wont hurt anything though...if anything, bigger cable is always better in terms of sound...less resistance on the wires, the more power on tap... make sure if the amp kit you get only has enough ground cable included to reach from the amp to the floor of the car for a chassis ground, that you "add on" to the negative post on your battery and run another ground.

a extra ground from the negative battery terminal to the subframe or chassis of the car somewhere can help the amp get a better ground, and can help prevent that pesky buzzing/alt noise alot of people post about.

if you can get 4awg for free do it... you can always find a way to reduce it down if there is a problem hooking it up to that amp...Most likely you'll just need a 4awg crimp connector.

4awg is normally the smallest cable size I recommend people use in their cars (when they run speaker & sub amps).

You can NEVER go too big. (well you can... but thats with single stranded wire & tweeters only).

Thanks for all the help guys!! I just installed my sub today and it gives me that nice thump I was looking for...actually it is a bit more! It was my first crack at a sub install and I think that I faired quite well with all of your help of course!!

For the amp kit, I decided to solder the wires cover it with Electrical tape...its working out just fine.
