Downhill Downshifting
Hi everyone. I haven't found an answer to the following question:
When driving downhill (2008 yaris hatchback automatic), I sometimes depress the brake slightly to reduce speed. When I do this, the engine suddenly downshifts and the RPMs skyrocket. This can't be good for the engine. In addition, it's not the best for performance - going downhill I'd rather it up-shift suddenly, not shift into a lower gear. I haven't found a solution to this other than to depress the brakes fully - but that's not the best option when I want to reduce speed only slightly when going downhill. I haven't experienced this in any other car I've driven. Do others have experience with this? what's going on? any solutions? |
