First impressions of my Yaris Sedan w/ PP
I waited a few days to post so I could get a feeling for the car.
I paid $15,465 - $400 trade in - $400 College Grad discount so $14,665 and I added on the $740 Platinum extended warranty coverage also. This is for a Yaris Metallic Blue Sedan Automatic with the Power Package. I was a little upset when I saw the half beige/half dark interior, but I said they are just to hard to come by. My only 2 beefs with the car: 1) Driver seat leaves me with back and leg pain, I believe it has to do with the massive slopes along the edge of the seat. Found this out after driving an hour to work and didn't notice it during test drive. I will adapt the seat somehow to make it more comfy. 2) Brake Pedal gets in my way sometimes when I push on gas pedal. I have wide shoes I guess? I still have 5 bars left on my gas gauge and I have 160 miles so far on the tank. That is good! |

My only question is about your pain from the seats...I am curious as to how tall you are and how much you weigh? Of course you don't have to answer, but I am 6'2" and weigh in around 225. The seats in this car are one of the most comfy sets I have sat in...even comparing them to the seats that were custom made for my 60 pontiac.
I have heard people mention the pedals on the auto being too close...I have no problems with my stick...

I am 6'2" and 235lbs. The outer edge of the seat slopes up and raises the edge, and that pinches my thigh and my tailbone is slumped back as well.
I have the exact opposite opinion of these seats as you do. lol Can you answer this......... Does the Liftback RS have different sets, because I did not notice this when I drove the hatch. |

I am not sure...I have not had the pleasure of driving an LB yet...the only quam that I have with the seats is that I have noticed after I slide the seats forward and then all the way back again they are not fully locking into their place easy...

I dunno, but these front seats look like small buckets that could hold water with those edges and it just doesn't make sense that they would have such a high edge to me?

I don't have problems with the seats for my LB, except that only the passengers has the lever to move it forward to let someone get in the back and that when moving it back, it returns to the stock settings, not the one the previous rider set. Just a pet peeve I guess.

I noticed that I kinda need to relearn to sit in this car compared to my previous. The center armrest is a little too low in my opinion. I am so used to it in my Nissan that I find myself leaning to that side in the Yaris. Also I have the habbit of resting my hand on the shifter. The shifter is also too low in combination with the console arm rest.

6"3" / 195 lbs here (was 203 a month ago - amazing what a change of diet can do)
The Yaris driving position is actually more confortable than in our 2006 4Runner Sport. Yes, pedals are too close together, but I just avoid overly wide shoes and it is no problem. (Size 13's here.) Gear shift not tooo low, but no armrest on our car.

However, last night on my commute home my right leg was actually going numb. If this OBUS seat cushion doesn't do the trick I may end up selling my Yaris. That is something I don't WANT to do but the pain is now getting unbearable. I wonder if I would have a difficult time selling the Yaris? |

I feel exactly like you when I test drive a Yaris for a few day (have the change to test drive it a few days). I'm 6'2", 265 lbs and I wear 13W shoes. The Yaris is just not designed for me. My G/F are 5'6" and proportionnal weight and she felt perfect in the Yaris.

Well, the OBUS seat cushion did not work at all and I am not going to keep making these $50 mistakes anymore. I now have a list of 5 Auto Upholstery places and I am going to get quotes on redoing the seat cushion or possibly making a custom seat cushion made?
I have no idea how much this is going to cost me, but I hope its less than the loss I would take on selling the Yaris? |

Have you tried messing with the lever on the left side? There's one that lowers and raises the seat. When I first received my car, it was all the way raised and extremely uncomfortable. I lowered it all the way and it fixed everything just fine.

You know you can always try getting a new seat.... maybe a sports seat or somthing along that line, thats ment to "grip" and "fit" your body... I would see if there are any auto acces. stores in your area, as they are must likely to have a seat in house that you could "try out" in store before buying. good luck.
