CB Radio install in a 2012 Yaris
I've always had a CB in my vehicles but today I'm finding out there isn't alot of friendly spaces to hook up a CB and fibreglass stick in one of these cars. I purchased a Cobra 75 WX ST which is basically a mic with everything in it. There is a small 2 x 3 inch box which mounts under the dash where the power and antenna plug in. The rear of the car is mostly plastic which makes getting a bracket onto some metal difficult. I finally finished making my own mounting bracket and now it's time to stop due to the Super Bowl pre-game show.
Any one else have a CB installed in their ride?

I will eventually, but I will put it as a covert antenna install, and hide all the equipment. Will post some photos when I get around to it.

"covert antenna install". Now that sounds interesting.
How do intend to hide the antenna for a CB? I'm really curious on this one.

Since most bumpers are plastic, people have been sticking dipole antennas behind them. My top spoiler is plastic, will see if I can fit an antenna in there without the proximity of the metal roof throwing off my reception. The CB equipment can hide in the secret compartment in the glove box at the top.

I know what you mean about all that plastic. lol.
I made a bracket that I attached to a bolt by the drivers side rear frame which comes out under the bumper for now. When I pick up the trailer hitch I will mount the bracket to it. Alas my 2012 Yaris doesn't have that kind of glove box. I am still trying to pick a spot for my mic.

Well I picked up a Cobra 75 which has all the important stuff in the mic. My antenna is a firestikII with an adjustable tip. I just finished the install (including an extension speaker), and I'm happy with it. It took awhile to attach the home made antenna mount to the trailer hitch but it works. I did have to run a ground cable to the frame.
