Anyone here have experience with older Jeeps?
I have an 86 Comanche sitting in my back yard. My grandfather and I bought the truck when I was 8 and ran the wheels off of it. He passed away in 06 and the truck hasn't ran since. I think I'm going to try and fix it come tax time. It has the 2.8 V6, which I've heard is a huge hunk of $#!+. My question is, are there any almost straight forward engine swaps that I can get my hands on at a junkyard fairly easily? I don't really want to go to crazy throwing something in there because the truck will be used practically ie; scrapyards and trash runs. I'm just trying to find something reliable with a bit more power. Any and all help is appreciated.

I would stick with GM,a larger v-6 with fuel injection should do the job...

The only use will be trash runs? Does it run at all? If so, fix nothing, just do your trash runs with it. What is there to lose?

I would do a 4.0 in it but I would have to do firewall mods to make it fit. They didn't design this body to work with this truck because it was before they were using it.
