Plasti Dip Emblems (Pics)
So i've been reading up on plasti dip and i figured i would try blacking out my badges. It is incredibly easy to use. Even though it is December, i had some issues with temperature, and not getting an even spray pattern. Overall i think they turned out just fine.
I started by removing the front emblem, just for ease of coverage while spraying. The first time i attempted to spray the front with the emblem still attached, the plastidip linked between the paint and the emblem and i could not get a clean separation between the two, so i had to start over. I used a basic degreaser on the rear emblems before i started painting. Next i used painters tape and newspaper to tape up the back. Finally i started spraying away. I did a total of 6 coats, all very light. Then i removed the paper and the tape and slowly peeled away the excess material. Ive seem another member here has done the mirrors of the car, and i think that will be my next project for the yaris. Once the summer rolls around, im hoping to do some dipping on my Evo! Enjoy! |
