The OEM system would be difficult to retrofit, as it would require changing the ECM, adding the additional ECU for the smart keys, adding the receivers for the smart keys, and changing quite a few harnesses.
There are a couple of aftermarket retrofit systems, which cost about $200 to $300. The one which I have seen had terrible installation documentation, so some trial an error would be involved in installing it. I also developed an easy to install system to use the OEM push start switch. It does not have the smart key though, so the key or key fob must still be used to unlock the doors and the key is still required to unlock the steering column. Here's a video of my system: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6zinlD58Eg

I charge $55 US for my module. Along with it, you need to track down a Toyota push to start switch.

Like I mentioned in post #2, the OEM system would be very difficult to implement unless you had access to many parts from a wrecked Vitz.
