I'm going to be towing my Yaris automatic with a tow dolly behind my motorhome. Should I put the transmission in park or drive? Thanks

front wheel on the dolly and it can be parked, it is the rear wheels that are going to be rolling, just don't put the parking break on.

If you are towing it on a dolly, the rear wheels will be in contact with the road and the fronts will be lashed to the front wheel pockets. You don't want it to come off the dolly, so it makes sense to prevent movement against the straps by putting the tranny in park. Just make sure you do not put the ebrake on.

Can MT Yarises (or corollas for that matter) be towed 4 wheels down? I'm fairly certain AT ones can't but I've seen some local transporters using an Echo and/or Corolla towed 4 wheels down.

MT's are fine to tow with all four wheels down (in neutral). AT's should never have the drive wheels in motion unless the engine is doing it.

I would never do it, because at least on the old mechanical odometers, that mileage, even with the car completely off, added to the total.

I wondered that also....I don't tow my Yaris, but I do tow my '99 Rav4, all 4 wheels down. It has a digital odometer, and I need to have the ignition switch in ACC. to keep the steering from locking up. My guess is (havn't bothered to check, don't really care) the digital speedos don't work unless the engine is running?

with the ignition off it will not increment, but with the ignition on and the engine not running it will.
